Better Awareness of Your Plumbing Helps the CA Drought

Last month, Gov. Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency for the entire state of California. In fact, he said, “[this is] perhaps the worst drought California has ever seen since records began being kept about 100 years ago.”

As we are all doing our part to help, our technicians at Beutler Air Conditioning & Plumbing have been asked, “What more can homeowners do to understand how their plumbing can help with the drought?”

Beutler’s expert technicians have three tips for California residents and their plumbing.

  1. Fix Leaks. According to the EPA, 10 percent of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons of water or more per day.
  2. Conservation is Key. National Geographic came out with an article called ” Plumbing California.” Close to 70 percent of the water being delivered to households in California is being used for applications outside of the home (sprinklers, etc.). Keep those on a schedule that you control.
  3. Think New. A minor investment now could save you plenty of dollars in the future – and it could save California as well. Your water lines, slab leaks or even your garbage disposal can all affect your plumbing. A routine check could tell you how to fix those things and ensure they’re operating efficiently.
